Pentatonics is a traditional Chinese instrumental band composed of 8 players based in Vancouver B.C.

They utilize exotic musical instruments and apply them to a variety of music ranging from pop and rock music to fusion traditional Chinese music

A university HCI course team project as an attempt to create a physical car audio dashboard interface that is intuitive to use and safety.

Safty was our top priority as a car driver can be easily distracted and cause a dangerous situation. We aimed to minimize the amount of visual attention time from this prototype so that the driver can keep eyes on road as much as possible, promoting safe driving. Spacing of the buttons were tuned for users to easily recognize each button by touch.

We also wanted to create an interface that has a short learning curve (users of other car audio systems can easily adept to this interface). To achieve this we used traditional elements like dial buttons and lever buttons. 

Cognitive tests were conducted where a user is to play a tetris game while attempting to use the audio system to complete tasks like dialing up volume and changing stations.
